About Brooke Leifso

Welcome! My name is Brooke Leifso and I am a performance producer, an academic and expressive art practitioner with a focus on community cohesion. This website highlights my past, present, and future work in all it’s paths!

My goal in everything I do is to create equitable, social cohesion in society while embracing diversity. I do this through academic research, community-based workshops, and art-based approaches (professional and community-focused).

Things I do:

Community Consultancy

  • I can work alongside communities (business, non-profits, or less structured groups) to create strategic plans, codes of conduct, simple group mediation, or tailor-made equity, diversity, and inclusion workshops

Expressive Art and Community Art Practice

  • With a community, we can create art! I have graduate-level training in working with diverse and often marginalized communities.

Professional Productions

  • professional performance production: I work to produce interesting and innovative performances
  • professional performance accessibility consultancy: I work with theatre and performance companies to make their work accessible — captioning, outreach, pricing models, communications! I work strategize how to make their specific art event accessible and available to traditionally marginalized communities

Academic Research:

  • I’m a lifelong learner, currently engaged as the Lead Researcher for the Autism CanTech! project. Here I combine my emerging research skills with my experiences as a disability advocate and front-line worker.
  • I am interested in gaining more experience in this realm, using arts-based methodologies
